I don't live in a terrible place, I just travel to some. I don't carry while I'm home, but I do when I travel. So far the only times I've had to fire my little friend were into the air to scare off a bear and at a rattlesnake. I have had to display it to scare off two legged snakes in Seattle, San Francisco, Farmington (New Mexico) and Los Angeles.
